Post Christmas

Soon enough I will begin blogging my Christmas gifts. I didn't get the main thing I asked for, which was a puppy party (and also to be a Pawnee Ranger in real life, or just to be friends with Rashida Jones and Amy Poehler). Maybe next year. But I did get wonderful and amazing and even better gifts from friends and family, including more charms to add to my necklace and plenty of money to waste spend throughtfully on Amazon. This year may have marked one of the first full years I didn't find my Christmas gifts ahead of time. When I was little, I used to search for my Christmas gifts around our house before Christmas. If they were wrapped, I would never go so far as to unwrap and rewrap them, but I typically was able to find them in my parents' closet in advance of being wrapped. The year I knew I was getting an EZ Bake Oven, the torture of not getting it out of its packaging and trying to bake something in it and return it to its packaging, untarnished, ate away at me until I was almost nothing.  My Mom didn't know I did this until I was in my mid-20s, so she never tried to hide packages somewhere better than the closet. This is also how I found out Santa Claus wasn't real at the tender age of 5. I went in looking for presents and found the wrapping paper my Mom later used to wrap "Santa's" gifts. I called my parents out pretty bigtime on Christmas morning, but I wasn't that sad, remembering to have had an inkling Santa wasn't really all that real. I didn't tell anyone else until this boy in 4th grade who kept insisting Santa was real, and I took it upon myself as an asshole to make sure he understood that Santa was not real. 4th grade, though, it's just too old.

Anyways, I was beating the post-Christmas-no-presents blues with new outfits.
